Hader Otaki is an Alago writer and the author of the poetry collection titled GIVE ME A WORD, he is from Keana, an area of Nasarawa state of Nigeria. He holds a first degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Lagos. He has also obtained two professional certificates in Intellectual Property from the World Intellectual Property Organization. He is a partner with Nasara Creative, the organizer of the Abuja International Poetry Festival and Liquid House Poetry. His poetry and prose explore love, sexuality, and the relationship between man and his faith. Hader Otaki’s poetry has appeared on online platforms such as Konya Shamsrumi and Amada Khalago Magazine etc. He’s a lover of art, page & stage poetry and he has performed across many platforms including the Abuja Literary Festival, the Association of Nigerian Authors, ABUfestival, IN CONVERSATION, organized by Sevhage Publishing House, WorthWord, an Islamic poetry event, and Nile University Abuja. He was the guest writer at the Yasmin El-Rufai Foundation for its 2023 July Literary Evening and he was one of the guest writers at the just concluded Duniate Cultural Festival 2024. He was a performing guest poet at the 2023 ART SHOWCASES organized by Cavic Nigeria and supported by the British Council, Abuja. In 2021, Hader Otaki was among the few poets commissioned by BBC MEDIA ACTION to write and record a piece for political advocacy and the promotion of the Nigerian brand, using spoken word poetry as a tool. He was among the six chosen creative writers recruited in 2020 by NCBN (NIGERIAN CUSTOM BROADCASTING NETWORK) for a spoken word poetry project for its cable network. And most recently, his work with the international NGO, SEARCH FOR COMMON GROUND supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. He published his first book in the summer of 2021; a poetry collection that sold over five hundred copies. He is currently busy working on his second book. Hader is also a town planner and a project manager for Brill Developers Limited, an Abuja Real Estate Firm. He writes from Abuja and enjoys skating, mountain climbing, and outdoor activities whenever he is not writing. He is a social media buff and he has an imaginary girlfriend named, Otusha Ozegya.
